Mangualde Team Showcases NAO Robot Innovations at Mariana Seixas School in Viseu

The Mangualde team presented innovative educational uses of the NAO humanoid robot during a workshop held at Escola Profissional Mariana Seixas in Viseu, as part of the Erasmus+ project My Robot, My LearnMate. The event highlighted the transformative potential of humanoid robotics in education and encouraged interdisciplinary collaboration among teachers.

The workshop brought together educators from a wide range of subject areas, including Languages, Special Education, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and Economics. This diverse participation reflected the project’s strong focus on inclusion, interdisciplinary learning, and pedagogical innovation.

The session began with an introduction to the project’s vision of using technology to enrich teaching and learning experiences. The Mangualde team then demonstrated concrete classroom applications of the NAO robot, showing how it can support language learning through interactive dialogue, enhance spatial awareness and problem-solving in Special Education, illustrate complex scientific concepts, and foster engagement and critical thinking in social sciences.

A key highlight of the workshop was the presentation of the Erasmus+ MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) developed collaboratively by all project partners. The MOOC provides educators with practical guidance, interactive modules, and best practices for integrating the NAO robot into different educational contexts, drawing on shared international experiences from across Europe.

The workshop encouraged active discussion and reflection, inspiring participants to explore new teaching methodologies and to use the project’s resources in their own classrooms. It also strengthened local networks of innovative educators and reinforced the importance of collaboration and continuous professional development.

By sharing practical examples and accessible resources, the Mangualde team continues to support the dissemination of educational innovation and the wider impact of the Erasmus+ project. The successful workshop at Mariana Seixas Professional School demonstrated how teamwork, technology, and a shared vision can contribute to shaping the future of education.
